Fiat to create 2000 jobs by investing $1 Billion on Michigan and Ohio

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the American arm of automaker Fiat-Chrysler, announced on Sunday that they are going to invest a total of $1 billion in Michigan and Ohio plants, which will add up to 2000 new jobs in the Country.

The Company said in the announcement that this was the second phase of a plan, the first phase of the plan was made a year ago.

The plan came few days after the Ford Motor Company decided to build a manufacturing facility in Mexico, instead of  investing in a plant in Michigan.

Ford's CEO quoted the demand, rather than the policies of President-elect Donald Trump, who has pledged to impose a "border tax" up on the companies which send jobs out of the Country.

The Company said, "Consistent and combined with previously announced investments, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. is further demonstrating its commitment to strengthening its American manufacturing base, and aligning American capacity to extend the Jeep product lineup.

The Company also said in a statement that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles would retool and modernize its Warren Truck Assembly Plant to manufacture a new Jeep and Grand Wagoneers. While a facility in Toledo would build a new Jeep pickup truck, these plans will be in place by 2020.

The move is the continuation of the efforts that are already under the way to increase the production capacity in the America on trucks and SUVs to match the demand. The Company said, adding that it would help solidify the U.S. as "a global manufacturing hub" for its flagship brands.

However, the Fiat indicated that it would still continue to manufacture at least one line, its Ram heavy duty truck, in Mexico.

"They also added that the benefit of the investment in Warren is that it will sanction the plant to produce the Ram heavy duty truck, which is currently manufactured in Mexico," Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said.
