
The first Syrian family will soon start a new life in the Kansas city of Unite States under its s speeded-up "surge operation" for refugees. Ahmad al-Abboud, who with his family is being resettled in the US, received a Kansas City Royals jersey, which is a symbol of their new hometown.
Judy Akers, the executive vice president of Della Lamb Community Services, explained that, “They are literally fleeing to America because of horrific conditions they've experienced in their homelands.”
“Refugee families who come through Della Lamb refugee services have been vetted by the U.S. State Department. The American promise really exists for them. Their families are free,” Akers added.

The Associated Press reported that, Al-Abboud said that, “I am happy. America is the country of freedom and democracy, there are jobs opportunities, there is good education, and we are looking forward to having a good life over there.” “I am ready to integrate in the U.S. and start a new life,” he said.
