
Republican presidential aspirant Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent have won primaries in the US state of Mississippi. Both are cementing their position as frontrunners in the presidential nomination race.
Ohio Governor John Kasich initially gave a tough fight to Trump, while he was leading in Michigan. Trump, the billionaire real estate mogul, tweeted "Thank you Mississippi!", as results announced from the southern state of Mississippi which, held Republican primary yesterday.
"I hope Republicans will embrace it, we have something going that is so good, we should grab each other and unify the party," Trump said.
Hillary Clinton (68) won the Democratic primary contest in Mississippi. She beat her party rival Bernie Sanders (74). After the Mississippi win, Clinton has captured 21 delegates at stake taking her total count to 1134. She needs 2384 delegates of the total 4765, to win the presidential nomination of the party.
Trump was leading with 384 delegates, before Mississippi primaries . He required at least 1237 votes out of a total of 2472 available delegates. Texas Senator Ted Cruz (45) follows Trump with 300 delegates and Florida Senator Marco Rubio (44) with 151 delegates.
