The OnePlus 15 was introduced to the global market in the last quarter of 2025, but early information about its successor has begun to emerge from China. Sources have indicated significant improvements in areas like the camera, display, and battery. A recent update on Weibo indicates that OnePlus is working on new components, which may include a high-resolution periscope camera, ultra-high refresh rate flat screens, and a much bigger "Glacier" battery. These enhancements would make the OnePlus 16 a remarkable upgrade compared to the current model. The OnePlus 16 is said to be in testing with a 200-megapixel telephoto camera, as mentioned in a Weibo post by leaker Digital Chat Station. This sensor is reportedly much larger than the one in the OnePlus 15, possibly around the 1/1.x-inch size, which could greatly enhance zoom quality and light gathering if included in the final version. An earlier leak hinted that the OnePlus 16 might come with the same camera setup as the Oppo Find N6, which is expected to have a three-camera system on the back, featuring two 50-megapixel sensors and a 200-megapixel camera, along with a 2-megapixel multispectral sensor to enhance color balance and image quality.
The upcoming OnePlus 16 is also rumored to be undergoing internal testing for flat screens with refresh rates of over 200Hz. This would surpass the 165Hz displays used in the OnePlus 15. It remains uncertain whether such a high refresh rate would significantly enhance the user experience when using typical apps on the device.
The OnePlus 16 is likely to differentiate itself particularly in battery size. Another Weibo source, Old Chen Air, asserts that the phone will feature an advanced "Glacier Battery" with a capacity nearing 9,000mAh. This would represent a significant increase from the 7,300mAh battery available in the OnePlus 15. The anticipated OnePlus 16 is also expected to be equipped with the next generation of leading processors, probably Qualcomm's rumored Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, although this, like all other rumored features, has not yet been verified by the company. Since the OnePlus 16’s launch is still several months away, it's possible that the expected specifications may change as development progresses, and readers should be cautious with all rumors.
