World's Longest Expressway Between Delhi and Mumbai will be Ready by 2023

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari completed the review work progress of the Expressway that is constructed between Delhi and Mumbai which is named as the world's largest expressways ever. The expressway is expected to reduce the travel time by 12 hours and it is 24 hours for now. Nitin Gadkari toured in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The estimated cost of the project is said to be Rs 98,000 crores and it is expected to be ready by March 2023. The first phase of the Expressway is expected to be open by March 2022 between Delhi and Jaipur along with Vadodara and Ankleshwar. The project commenced work in the year 2018 and the foundation stone was laid on March 9th, 2019.

This Expressway will increase the connectivity between Jaipur, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Chittorgarh, Kota, Udaipur, Ujjain, Bhopal, Indore, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Surat. Out of the 1380 km, there are several contracts given for 1200 km. More than 15,000 hectares of land has been acquired across several states. Delhi and Mumbai Expressway is an eight-lane highway and it can be expanded into a 12-lane expressway. There would lot of resorts, restaurants, food courts, fuel stations, parks and other facilities throughout the expressway. A helicopter ambulance will be available for accident victims. Two million trees and shrubs are planted across the expressway. There are special animal overpasses for undisrupted wildlife movement.

There are two eight-lane tunnels in this Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. 12 lakh tonnes of steel is used for the construction of this project and 80 lakh tonnes of cement is used. Thousands of trained civil engineers are working for this project.
