Indian Railways and NHAI will begin to acquire additional lands for running the bullet trains on 7 new routes. Bullet trains are built from Japanese technology with a speed of 320 km/hr.

The Indian railways along with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will begin the process of acquiring new lands for building new routes for 7 bullet trains in different routes for the country.

By acquiring these lands, India wants to build a huge network of high speed strains across the country.

According to reports, the NHAI will acquire the lands soon and is going to lay the tracks for the high speed bullet trains. The tracks will be laid along the Greenfield expressways for integrated rail network in the country.

For this, a meeting was held with a group of infrastructure ministers and was chaired by Union Minister Nithin Gadkari recently during which the decision to acquire additional lands was taken.

During the meeting, a decision was taken to constitute a committee to take the project forward. The committee will work out the modalities for acquiring the lands and sharing the cost.

Notably, the Indian railways is already in the process of preparing a blue print of the seven high speed rail routes in the country.

As per reports, the Indian railways is considering to run the bullet trains along 7 new and important routes. The routes are Delhi to Varanasi via Noida, Agra and Lucknow; Varanasi to Howrah via Patna; Delhi to Ahmadabad via Jaipur and Udaipur; Delhi to Amritsar via Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar; Mumbai to Nagpur via Nasik; Mumbai to Hyderabad via Pune; Chennai to Mysore via Bangalore.

The railways has also given the details to NHAI about the seven high speed rail corridors for running the bullet trains.

For better integration of this bullet train project, NHAI has been asked by the Railways to employ a nodal officer.

The high speed bullet trains are acquired from Japan and the Japanese technology will be deployed in the trains which will make them the trains which would run with highest speeds in the country.
