Michigan  University gets US funds to enhance nutrition in Mali

An amount of $4.4 million has been received by the Michigan state university under the program to deal with hunger and poverty and enhance nutrition in the African nation of Mali.

The U.S. Agency for International Development has provided the fund to the university, the  East Lansing school announced on Monday. The fund will be helpful to boost the  efforts at the Food Security Policy Innovation Lab. It has been launched three years ago with a USAID grant in the  Michigan State. It leads a project, that is called the Mali Food Security Policy Research Program.

According to the researchers, they are working on the several issues, which are affecting Malian farmers with national institutes. The project works on  farm productivity and gender,  agri-business investment and  trade.

The innovation lab of the Michigan State has also received funds for similar projects in  Senegal, Malawi, and Burma.
