I am being made a scapegoat: Jagan

The Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) does not have proper 'charges' to arrest him in 'any case'.

The CBI has filed a chargesheet against Jagan in connection to an illegal assets case.

"On what charges would somebody arrest me? Did I make a phone call to an IAS officer? Did I make a phone call to a minister ? Did I even go to the secretariat for even a single day? On what charges would anybody arrest me?" Reddy told a news channel.

"This is way too much, just pulling it too much," Reddy said. "There are no charges to arrest me."

Meanwhile, reports on Sunday said there are high chances that the YSR Congress Party president may face arrest soon in the disproportionate assets case.

According to CBI sources, Reddy is likely to be arrested after being grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The CBI has named Reddy as the prime accused in the case.

Reacting to the entire episode, Reddy said he has been made a 'scapegoat'.

"Today, I am being made a scapegoat just because my father is no longer alive," he said.

The probe agency has also included the names of 12 others that include senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and politicians in the 68-page chargesheet.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Jagan Reddy's wealth on Aug 11, 2011 after Congress leader P Shankar Rao filed a written petition in Nov 2010 seeking it, terming his property as “ill-gotten”. (IBNS)
