India is the second leading place of origin for students traveling to United States, comprising of students from Telugu states to a large extent with 17 per cent of the total international students in U.S.

At an event, 'student visa day-celebrating Educational Exchange between India and United States,' U.S. Consul General Katherine Hadda said that about 800 students apply for F-1 visa on average every day.

"Ten years ago, there were roughly 90,000 Indian students in the USA. According to our recent figures, this figure of Indian students in the USA has more than doubled. One out of six international students in the USA is from India. We are proud of the role that this consulate plays in strengthening the bond between the two countries," said Hadda.

Tollywood actor Sesh Adivi who studied in U.S. since the age nine asked students to explore as much as they can and advised them not to hey swayed by stereotypes.

"We Indians have a problem with being okay with what we know and what we have. This stalls us from learning things. So, don't always be with people from your country or state of origin. Instead, meet new people from various nations and explore as much as you can, "said Sesh, adding that the studying abroad can fundamentally change one's personality and make them more confident.

The students who were issued F-1 visa on Wednesday expressed their felicity though they are stressed regarding the changing situations abroad.
